Update – December 3: Whistler Blackcomb is now open and December 6 is the last chance to buy The Epic Pass, EDGE Cards, Whistler Blackcomb Day Pass or any other pass products. As lift tickets will be limited this ski season, Whistler Blackcomb is recommending that passes will be the best way to hit the slopes this winter.
Winter is only a few weeks away, and that means ski season is nearly here. While there are challenges for winter 2020-2021, Vail Resorts unveiled a series of new initiatives to get skiers on the hills safely, with deals for the Epic Pass ending today.
If you’re planning to hit the slopes at Whistler Blackcomb this winter, there are a number of Epic Pass options for the upcoming season, including the very flexible Epic Day Pass that’s valued up to 50% off the full price. For 4 days, with the sale price, the Epic Day Pass works out to $404, excluding holidays, or $478 with holidays.
Don’t worry though, latecomers, the Epic Pass will still be available for a few more weeks, but the Epic Pass sale ends today, September 17.
Passholders for 2020-2021 will have exclusive early season access this ski season, priority reservation days, and Epic Coverage with refund options for personal injuries, job loss, or if there are ski closures due to COVID-19.
Plus, Canadians with an Epic Pass also get access to Canadian Rockies resorts, including Kicking Horse, Fernie, Kimberley, Nakiska, Mont-Sainte-Anne, and Stoneham.
To address the changes that were needed this year, Vail Resorts announced a number of measures to keep everyone safe. Some of those measures include:
- A new reservations system that gives Epic Pass holders the best access for planning their trip.
- Face coverings will be required to access the mountains.
- Only related parties will be seated together on gondolas and lifts.
- And there are changes to ski school and on-mountain dining to address COVID-19.
Weather permitting, Vail Resorts will kick off the North American ski and snowboard season at Keystone, Colorado on November 6th, with Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia set to open on November 26th.
“We are fortunate that our core experience of skiing and riding takes place outdoors, across huge mountains, offering fresh air and wide-open spaces for our guests. However, to help protect our guests, our employees and our communities amid this pandemic, some changes will be required this season,” said Rob Katz, CEO of Vail Resorts.
“It has been our goal to design an approach that can remain in place for all of the 2020/21 season. We do not want to be caught off guard or find ourselves needing to make reactionary changes. Striving for consistency will provide our guests, employees and communities with as much predictability as possible this season, which we believe is worth the extra effort.”
“There is no doubt this season will be different but we are committed to what matters most: working to protect our guests, employees and communities and doing everything we can to provide great skiing and riding all season long,” Katz said.
